Solutions for the horticultural sector

The horticultural sector requires the use of labels and tags of specific special materials, in order to be applied without causing damage or disturbance to the great variety of green plants, flowering or fruit plants, indoor or outdoor, rather than to the large quantity of seeds that are treated in this product sector.

In 2020, the EU introduced the Plant Passport, a useful tool for the traceability and identification of plants, mandatory for operators and activities in the phytosanitary sector. Finlogic has all the printing solutions suitable for the correct creation of the Plant Passport.

The materials used for the production of adhesive labels and identification tags are usually plastic materials resistant to atmospheric agents, water, humidity and condensation, since plants and flowers are periodically exposed to irrigation, exposure to the open air and therefore UV rays and bad weather, or in any case in greenhouses.

The most used materials are:

  1. polypropylene with reinforced adhesive (eg S2045);
  2. PRIMAX PLUS (plastic material with good adhesion);
  3. other plastic materials based on use.

For tags, mainly used as collars, PEPPART (rigid plastic material) is usually used for multi-lane collars, while for single-lane tags any plastic material is fine, such as POLYART, PEPPART YUPO FDR.

The range of solutions for traceability of products in the horticultural sector completes:

  • the production of neutral and printed labels;
  • supply of black and colored ribbons;
  • thermal transfer barcode printers;
  • digital printers for color labels on demand, to independently print the photo of the plant directly on the passport label;
  • barcode readers and terminals for reading 1D and 2D codes.
